A timeless cautionary tale
As cute woodland creatures celebrate Christmas, two young squirrels ask their grandfather what "men" are, the cartoon takes a dark turn as the elderly squirrel tells how horrible the "men" were.
Despite its grim message, there is a happy ending though as we learn the forest creatures survived because they learned some of the rules that humans wrote, but didn't follow.
At the time of this short's release, World War II had just begun in Europe and folks stateside were beginning to worry, much as we do now. We still have wars, but we must learn about peace before it's too late.
